11.09.2016 St John's Church (Jaani kirik), Tallinn, 7 pm ARVO PÄRT DAYS 2016: BIRTHDAY CONCERTArvo Pärt Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten Harry Traksmann (violin) Arvo Pärt's birthday concert celebrates one more anniversary – 40 years of the tintinnabuli style. In February 1976 the composer created a piano piece 'Für Alina', his first work applying the technique. And in October of the same year the audience heard for the first time the seven works united under the title „Tintinnabuli“ and performed by the old music ensemble Hortus Musicus. Since that time the tintinnabuli style with its endless possibilities has been the basis for the composer's work. Arvo Pärt's birthday concert is the performance of the most beloved compositions of the tintinnabuli style by Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. | |
